How to Promote Your Rower’s Poinsettia Sale

Our Holiday Poinsettia Sale is one of the easiest ways to support your rower and Edgewater Crew — and you don’t need to be a “salesperson” to do well. Everything is set up so that every order placed through your rower’s tools is automatically credited to them. Your job is simply to share. This guide walks you through what you have, how it works, and a few simple tips to make the most of it.

You Have Three Tools — and They All Do the Same Thing

When you log in to your parent dashboard, you’ll find three ways to promote the sale. Pick whichever is easiest for the moment — they all lead to the same store and all credit the sale to your rower:

  • Your personalized flyer — a ready-made image with your rower’s name and a QR code built right in. Post it, text it, print it, or hang it up.
  • Your QR code — perfect for in-person moments. Anyone who scans it with their phone camera goes straight to the store.
  • Your share link — a single web link you can drop into a text, email, or social post.

You don’t have to use all three. One good share to the right people can add up fast.

How Sales Get Credited to Your Rower

This is the important part — and it’s automatic. When someone uses your flyer, QR code, or link, their browser quietly remembers your rower. When they check out, that order is tagged to your rower and shows up in your Fundraising dashboard. There’s nothing for your buyer to type in and no code to remember — they just shop and order like normal, and the credit follows automatically.

A few things to know:

  • The credit lasts, so a friend can click your link today and order next week and it still counts.
  • If you’d like to check your progress, your dashboard (example below) shows every order credited to your rower — buyer name, date, and amount.
  • Only sales that come through your link/QR/flyer are credited to your rower, so it’s worth making sure people use yours.

Tips to Sell More — Even If You’ve Never Fundraised Before

1. Start with your circle

The people most likely to buy are the ones who already know and love your rower: grandparents, aunts and uncles, close family friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Make a quick list of 10–15 people and reach out to them first.

2. Make it personal

People give to people, not to campaigns. A short personal note works far better than a generic “please buy.” Try something like: “Hi Aunt Linda! Ethan is fundraising for Edgewater Crew this fall with a holiday poinsettia sale. If you were already thinking about poinsettias for the season, ordering through his link helps his team — thank you!”

3. Share your link everywhere

Text it to family, drop it in your group chats, email your coworkers, and post it on social media. The easier you make it to click, the more orders you’ll get. When in doubt, share it again a few days later — most people need a reminder.

4. Post your flyer on social media

Your personalized flyer is designed to grab attention. Post it to Facebook, Instagram or other places you communicate with people with a short caption and your link. Ask friends to share it too — a single re-share can reach dozens of new people.

5. Print it for the real world

Not everything happens online. Print your flyer and pin it to the break room board at work, your gym, your place of worship, or a community bulletin board (with permission). The QR code lets anyone order right from their phone.

6. Use the QR code in person

At games, practices, family gatherings, or the office, pull up your QR code (or a printed flyer) and let people scan it on the spot. In-person asks convert really well — people are happy to help when you’re standing right there.

7. Don’t forget the “easy yes” crowd

Lots of people buy poinsettias every year anyway. You’re not asking them to spend extra — you’re giving them a reason to buy the ones they’d already get through your rower instead. That framing makes it an easy yes.

8. Send a friendly reminder before the deadline

A quick “last chance to order before the deadline!” note in the final week almost always brings in a few more orders. Procrastinators are your friends.

Where to Find Your Flyer, QR Code, and Link

Log in to your parent account and open your Fundraising Promo Kit. There you’ll see your rower’s personalized flyer (with a Download button), your QR code, and your share link — ready to copy and go.

Mark Your Calendar

Orders are due by October 28th. Share early, remind often, and thank the people who order — every plant sold supports your rower and the entire Edgewater Crew program. Thank you for pitching in!
